Anyway, back from my trip
Dunno if any of you are away from your mother land and visit back periodically, but in my case I find the roads in Indonesia get worse and worse
Here are some thoughts of the trip:
So we took Royal Brunei Airlines and arrived in Jakarta where one of my aunties picked us up. Since my direct family consists of 6 people we had to stuff ourselves and two others (auntie and her driver, so that makes eight in total) in a six seater Ford, not to mention the luggage. The beauty of Indonesia is that you can easily get away with having no seatbelts and piling people on top one another.
After a rest at that auntie's house we proceeded to Bandung where my father's mother lived. We were greeted by more relatives.
Now, I don't know if they had a diet or something but two female cousins, who are sisters, went from slightly filled to magazine model skinny in the two years I haven't seen them. So it's definitely possible, girls = 3=
Anyway, with my father's side of the family we went to a beach hotel in Pangandaran. There was a sanctuary type area with caves and lots of monkeys running about. One of my little brothers saw a disturbing scene involving a rapist monkey who impulsively surprise-buttseks'd another monkey, a scene of which only lasted for a split second yet reaping disastrous results. So be careful out there.
With my mother's family, we stayed overnight on the mountains of Lembang. Sure Indonesia has really good mountain views but I always hated driving on winding roads... That aside, my relatives forced me to Karaoke for the first time. I sang Elvis' "Can't help falling in love," and Charlene's "I've never been to me," only because I don't know many songs and my mother listens to these kind of songs in the car...
Oh, and there was the wedding too. I had the honour of being chosen as one of four hotel waiters--well not really a hotel waiter, I just call it that. If you would divert your eyes to this picture in wikipedia [link] the outfit was very similar to the two dudes on the very ends of this shoot, in the maroon. It's almost the exact same thing except with real pants and a different hat. The job was to smile and stand like a statue.
Later, two of my younger brothers and I were snatched from the wedding by another aunt to her house in Jakarta. She had lots of cats in her house. 23 to be exact. 23. effing. cats. Then her daughter took us to expensive looking malls and we watched Zombieland together.
OH OH OH and she works in a hotel called "Four Seasons" as management for the VIP rooms. Guess what? She was in charge of Australia's PRIME MINISTER's room! She had shaken his hand and he even calls her "little miss" since she was younger than her colleagues XD. Rudd was really nice, she said.
Then we were taken by the auntie that first picked us up from the airport. She took us along with her family to a theme park called "Dufan" (Dunia Fantasi = Fantasy World). The term "theme park" kinda sums it all up though so nothing new here. Especially getting wet from the water rides...
Eventually it's time for us to go home. We left for the airport, flew to Brunei and waited for a 7-hour transit where a friend of my dad showed us around. After enduring a six hour flight we're back in Brisbane!
The end.
My brothers and I also counted the number of cats we've seen in the past three weeks.
108 cats
